Evgeny Dengub will be teaching the advanced level of Russia at the Russian Summer School in Middlebury College in the summer of 2007. In spring ’07 Evgeny taught a course on Russian culture (in English) at Temple University.

Irinia Dubinia
Irinia Dubinia has accepted the position of lecturer in Russia and director of the Russian Language Program at Brandeis University. Irina will teach all levels of Russian. As director of the Russian Language Program she will also manage outreach to the community, supervise student activities in Russian language and culture, run the Russian club, among other duties. In 2006-07 Irina co-taught two courses in Russian at West Chester University in PA.
Matthew Feliz received NEH-Funded Curatorial Interns in 2007-2008
The first half of Matt’s internship (summer ’07) will be spent at the Philadelphia Museum of Art, where he will assist with research for an upcoming exhibition on Cezanne. In the second half (Fall ‘07), he will be in the College Collections at Bryn Mawr, working on a little-studied collection of 19th-century French prints.
Emily Bereskin receives grant from Geraman Academic Exchange Service
EMILY BERESKIN has received a grant from German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) to study German in Berlin during the summer of 2007.
Ben Anderson
Ben Anderson is studying Byzantine literature at the Institut für Byzantinistik, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität, Munich. He reports that his Greek and German improve daily and that he has had the chance to travel quite a bit, mostly in south Germany, Austria, and North Italy. Benjamin holds a Graduate Study Scholarship from German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). When he returns to the U.S. in the fall of ’07 Ben will begin work on his dissertation on medieval star maps, in particular, depictions of the cosmos in the early medieval successor states. His dissertation is being directed by Prof. Dale Kinney.
